Item #: BQ1196 -- Edo-period Japanese Naginata Pole-arm, ca. 1650-1675 -- $4750.00

A fine complete Edo-period Japanese naginata pole-arm, ca. 1650-1675, with original tsuba and mounts. Ubu one hole blade, signed Bushu Shimohara Hiroshige, in foundation polish with no apparent flaws. Has medium undulating suguha hamon. The pole may have been slightly shortened during its working life; all metal mounts are intact and the original fine iron tsuba is signed Myochin Munechika. A very fine early example that will polish well and displays beautifully. Overall 63 3/4" long, with 15 9/16" blade nagasa.
